Quick Summary

Trauma-informed practice aims to increase practitioners’ awareness of how trauma can negatively impact on individuals and communities, and their ability to feel safe or develop trusting relationships with health and care services and their staff.

The Humber VPP has an ambition to ensure that it supports its wider stakeholders include its staff, delivery organisations, board members, partners etc to become more trauma informed.

This intervention aims to improve the accessibility and quality of services by creating culturally sensitive, safe services that people trust and want to use. It seeks to prepare practitioners to work in collaboration and partnership with people and empower them to make choices about their health and wellbeing.

The Humber and North Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership have established a Children and Young People’s Trauma Informed Care Programme and an associated partnership to deliver the programme. This partnership will be made up of all statutory and non-statutory agencies/partners across Humber and North Yorkshire that are involved in the provision of services for Children and Young People with complex needs.

A key aim for the programme will be building a trauma informed integrated care system. In order to achieve this, the programme will deliver training via the Attachment, Regulation and Competency (ARC) framework. ARC provides a set of clinical interventions to support children and young people who have experienced complex trauma, but also offers a structure by which organisations can become trauma-informed and deliver an integrated system of trauma informed care including:

  • Two Day Trauma Informed Care (ARC)
  • Training for Trainers (ARC Champions)
  • Half Day Leadership Module (SLT Members)

This project is being delivered by the Mental Health, Learning Disability and Autism Collaborative, on behalf of the Humber and North Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership.
