Quick Summary

Social skills training supports children to think before they act, understand other people’s perspectives, communicate effectively, and use strategies for managing aggression. Research suggests that children who develop social skills and self-control are less likely to become involved in crime and violence.

We are working on a pilot project with Barnardo’s to provide social skills training to 10 schools based throughout the Humber.

Barnardo’s will use Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP®). WRAP®is an evidenced based group model that is proven to increase emotional wellbeing. The support that schools receive from Barnardo’s can improve the mental health of a whole school community; pupils, staff and teachers alike.
