Quick Summary

The project supports delivery of pre-court interventions to support young people away from the formal youth justice system.

This intervention supports the expansion of existing programmes commissioned by Youth Justice Services that are suitable for evaluation.

The project is intended to prevent reoffending by finding alternatives to formal criminal justice proceedings.

The project will cover children that have been identified through police enquiries as guilty of an offence of a violent nature or bladed article below the gravity scale of 4 (e.g. common assault, ABH etc). These young people are researched and if they are suitable for a diversion intervention then a risk assessment is developed and an intervention plan to cover all aspects of the wishes of the victim and the offence committed.

This project is being delivered by North East Lincolnshire Council.
