In 2025, we funded a national pilot programme for Youth Health Champions specialising in violence prevention and reduction.

19 young people from the Humber region were selected for the six-week programme, which launched on the 28 October 2025 at Castle Hill Hospital in Cottingham.

Participants learnt useful knowledge and practical skills to create safer and more supportive places for patients, NHS staff, and the public. After completing the training, the graduates were awarded a nationally-recognised Level 2 qualification. The programme was developed and delivered by We Do Wellbeing. NHS Humber Health Partnership, the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust were among the healthcare organisations that helped shape the learning resources.

The RSPH created an evaluation report based on the pilot training programme to assess learner experience, programme quality and training effectiveness.

Campaign Ideas

Some of the graduates chose to further develop their campaigns aimed at reducing serious violence. Led by We Do Wellbeing, the teams honed their ideas, key messages, marketing channels and target audiences.

Their campaigns focused on:

  • The Third Space Initiative: A “third space” separate from school and home, where girls aged 14-19 can engage in open, honest conversations without judgement or pressure.
  • You Are Seen: Helping women understand the signs of abusive relationships and combatting the stigma of divorce.

We were incredibly impressed by the champions’ dedication, passion and fantastic ideas - click on the picture tiles below to learn more.
