Report Summary

Qualitative data was gathered from young people across the Humber region to understand their experiences, the factors shaping their involvement with the Youth Justice Service, and their views on what could prevent young people entering the justice system.

The approach draws on direct youth voice, using semi structured exercises applied consistently across areas, and includes the perspectives of young people aged roughly early teens to late teens. Data was collected during January and February 2026.

Created with thanks to children and young people who have participated and the work of the Youth Justice Service teams in East Riding of Yorkshire, Hull, North East Lincolnshire and North Lincolnshire.
