The Humber Violence Prevention Partnership is looking for talented individuals aged 11-18 to help us design a poster campaign centred around violence prevention.
The competition's objective is to engage schools and youth groups, in the Humber region, in creating poster designs focused on violence prevention. The initiative aims to empower young people to advocate for violence prevention through art and creativity.
The competition is made up of three stages:
Stage 1 – Young people work independently to develop and create early ideas and designs for the poster
Stage 2 – The two overall winners work with the arts organisation to create final poster designs and exhibition
Stage 3 – Designs are promoted as part of a public violence prevention campaign
The Humber Violence Prevention Partnership are working with the Warren and Fountain Arts who will host workshops with the winning entrant to see their design turned into a digital graphic. This collaboration will offer young designers a unique opportunity to see their vision transformed and brought to life in a public space as part of our campaign to prevent youth violence.
Participants are invited to design a poster by any means available (paper, digital, AI, photo collage, anything at all), to be A4 sized, but must be submitted digitally (scan or photo or posters are accepted) to humbervpp@humberside.pnn.police.uk
A winner from each region will be chosen by a panel of judges and invited (along with up to 3 friends) to either 'The Warren Youth Project' in Hull, or 'Fountain Arts Association' in Scunthorpe, to work with graphics professionals to convert their design into a piece ready for digital distribution, along with a £50 gift voucher for each winner, and £200 worth of books for their school/youth association.
There are 2 x 2nd place prizes of a £25 gift voucher, and 2 x runner up prizes of a £15 gift voucher.
All entries will be publicly exhibited and the the finalised winning entries will feature in the Humber Violence Prevention Partnerships 'Violence Prevention' campaign.
Closing Date for all entries is Tuesday 7th May 2024.
